Shellac Manicure

Shellac is the brand name for a new, patent pending nail product created by Creative Nail Design. It is a hybrid, meaning half nail polish, half gel. This special formula, called Shellac, brushes on just like regular nail polish. Nails are prepped in the same manner as a basic manicure. But the polish stays on, chip-free, for weeks.

Shellac Manicure FAQ

Shellac Manicure FAQ

How long do Shellac manicures last?

Shellac polish can last 10 to 14 days depending on your lifestyle. It may last even longer, but you’ll probably notice a gap between your cuticle and the polish where your nail bed has grown out. Nurses, teachers and our nail technicians have all been amazed how long it’s lasted on their hard working hands!

Who is Shellac best suited for?

Shellac is for people who want to maintain natural nails. The formulation looks as good from day 1 to day 14, but does not appear to damage nail beds.

Who is Shellac least suited for?

Those looking to lengthen their nails. You cannot use Shellac to create a longer nail. Also, Shellac isn’t for clients with extremely damaged nail beds, split or peeling nails. It is best to get on a corrective program with your manicurist before thinking about Shellac. If your nail is peeling off, it will take Shellac with it.

How is a Shellac service different from traditional nail enhancements (fake nails)?

Drills are never used or needed with Shellac, and removal does not leave nails dry, thin, possibly torn.

Can you apply Shellac at home?

No, Shellac can only be applied by a licensed, trained manicurist. Improper tools or techniques will give a less than desirable result with Shellac.

Use SolarOil daily to keep nails & cuticles moisturized.

How much does a Shellac manicure cost at Avissa Salon|Spa?

Our Shellac manicures cost $35. It’s more expensive than our regular services because the Shellac products cost us 4 to 5 times the amount of our regular top coats, base coats and polish. The Shellac service also takes a bit more of a nail technician’s time to complete the service. Since even the best manicure rarely lasts longer than three days, most customers have told us that it’s a great value.

Is Shellac safe for expectant mothers or those with sensitive skin?

Yes. Shellac does not include Formaldehyde, Toluene or DBP (Dibutyl Phthalate). Shellac is hypo-allergenic because it utilizes only a low level of photo-initiators. Photo-initiators can lead to sensitivity with some clients.

What do I need to know when I book?

Please mention at the time of booking that you’d like to try a Shellac manicure as this service takes longer than a regular manicure to perform. Please note this is a professional product so we don’t recommend that you remove Shellac by yourself at home.

American Manicure

A classic French Manicure uses a pinky tone clear base all over the nail and then a dense white tip is painted across the ends. The American has the same look but varies in color using a creamy colored base, like a flesh tone, finishing off the tips with a hint of pink or even red in some cases.

Sometimes the shape of the nail can change, with the American favoring a squarer shape nail rather than slightly rounded tips.
